Web Marketing Ireland
Now, you've just got a new website and you're proud of it but what's the point in having it if nobody is going to find it. You absolutely must market your website for it to be a success. This can be done in a number of ways and how much that is done may ultimately depend on your budget. You should be looking at the cost of your website in two ways, the cost of setting it up and the cost of marketing it.
What I find best is to establish the ROI of your website and if you can allocate portions of that back in to the marketing, it will allow you to grow your website from the turnover it generates. There are a number of techniques available to you in marketing your website. Some are quite obvious but they have to be said... tell people about it (customers, friends, suppliers, etc) AND put it on all print material (this includes your business cards, letterheads and advertisements).
Online marketing will play a key role in the success of your website. It is an ongoing process that never stops evolving. The more you work at this (or your web marketing partner), the more your site will grow in popularity and success. Here's a short guideline of the techniques for online marketing success:
- Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) - This is the key element to successfully marketing your website. Your website needs to be optimised for the search engines and this entails having search engine friendly pages (e.g. coding and accessibility), the correct page titles, keywords and descriptions in place, evaluating your position and refining it to help push you up the search engine rankings. It is also essential that keywords and phrases are scattered throughout your content. This will help emphasize your keywords and make your pages more relevant for searchers, hence driving you up the rankings. You may have noticed certain words being used a number of times on this website, e.g. web design ireland. Now you know why! :D
- Search Engine Marketing (SEM) - This is a very good way of getting quality visitors to your website. You choose certain keywords or phrases that you would like to bid on and when a user does a search on these, the search engine displays your advertisement, linking to your website. If the user clicks the advert, you get charged for the amount you bid. You have full control over how much you are willing to bid on a click and how much you wish to budget over a period of time and when you have reached your limit for that day, your advert is not shown until the next day. This is a great way of paying for actual quality visitors to your website that are actively searching for your products or services. The most famous of these is Google Adwords.
- Link Building - This ties in closely with SEO, where the more links you have going to your website, the higher the search engines will rank your page. Not only do you get people clicking on your link from other websites but search engines, such as Google, pick up that link and give you a point. The more points, the higher your page rank. The higher your page rank, the further up the results pages, you do go!
- Fresh Content - Google (and the other search engines) love new content. They simply gobble it up. The more new content you can get onto your website (with keywords scattered throughout), the more likely a user will find your website, even through the backdoor. Not all visitors get to your website via your home page so it is essential that your inner pages can drive your visitors back into your path to conversion. Blogs are a great way of getting new content onto your website and keeping it looking fresh. Repeat visitors are also more likely to come back if there is new content being put up all the time.
For all of the sites I develop, we employ standard search engine optimisation techniques and for some clients, we do more advanced techniques that involve a lot more time refining, testing, refining, testing, etc. If you wish to talk to us about a web marketing package that suits you and your budget, we would be more than happy to discuss.
